Pelindo III to build new terminal in Lamong Bay Surabaya

State seaport operator PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo) III plans to build a new multipurpose terminal in Lamong Bay in the East Java capital of Surabaya, which will cost it Rp 1.3 trillion (US$144 million).
The new terminal will increase the port's capacity to 3.5 million TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) from currently 1.5 million.
President director Djarwo Surjanto said Tuesday the construction work would start in August. "The funding will come from our internal budget. However, we would ask for loans if necessary," he said as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.
Djarwo said, however, the high capacity would not necessarily boost the operators' revenue.
